About me

Hi, I’m Biswa Prakash Swain

I’m a Nursing Officer with a B.Sc. in Nursing and a Master of Public Health. I started Health Beats by Biswa for one reason: good health information in India is either too complicated, too scary, or simply wrong. I want to fix that — in simple Hindi and English, with every claim backed by a source you can check.

Today more than 86,000 people follow Health Beats on Instagram, and my videos on YouTube explain blood reports, everyday health and the myths people forward on WhatsApp.

Experience

Real hospitals. Real patients.

My clinical work has taken me across the whole spectrum of Indian healthcare:

  • Small hospitals, corporate hospitals and government hospitals — so I understand how care really works, and what it costs patients
  • Community health — health education with families outside the hospital
  • ICUs, operation theatres and general wards — from critical care to everyday recovery

Qualifications

Why my training matters to you

B.Sc. Nursing

Clinical training in patient care and health education — how to explain the body and illness in words patients understand.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

Epidemiology and biostatistics — how to read research, judge the strength of evidence, and spot misleading numbers and headlines.

Nursing Officer

Hands-on experience across hospital types and departments — the real-world questions patients ask every day shape what I write.

How I check my facts

If I can’t show you the source, I don’t say it

  • Official guidelines first: WHO, MoHFW, ICMR, CDC and national professional bodies
  • Then peer-reviewed research — not blogs, influencers or product websites
  • Indian context first — when Indian and foreign guidelines differ, I explain the difference
  • Honest about uncertainty — if the evidence is weak or conflicting, I say so
  • Every article lists its sources and a “last reviewed” date, and I correct mistakes openly

What I don’t do: I don’t diagnose, prescribe or give personal treatment advice. My content is for education — for decisions about your own health, please see your doctor.

Views are personal and do not represent any employer or institution. Some articles may contain affiliate links; they are always disclosed, and they never decide what I recommend.
